It was another podium-winning weekend for Nitro Motorsports as this time they took their winning ways to Canada. Earning the TA2 victory with Rafa Matos, Nitro Motorsports put two drivers on the podium, three in the top-five, and all five of their drivers in the top-ten. Additionally, Jared Odrick added a podium result in the Pro/Am class.
“Another great weekend for us and another step towards the championship,” explained Nick Tucker. “We have consistently been at the front of the field and winning, adding more and more points toward our overall total. Congrats to Rafa, Tyler, and Jared for their podium finishes and to the entire team for having all six drivers inside the top-ten in their respective classes.”
Rafa Matos led the way in qualifying, earning the pole position just ahead of Ben Maier, Tyler Gonzalez, and Thomas Annunziata, who slotted in third, fourth, and fifth respectively. Hailie Deegan was just outside the top-ten in the Pro class, while Jared Odrick turned the third-fastest lap in the Pro/Am class.
When the dust had finally settled in the wheel-to-wheel action, Matos converted his pole position into a win, extending his championship point lead and making him a favorite to take the title. Gonzalez added another podium result to his resume as he returned to the Trans Am Series for the first time in several races. He crossed the line third, with Annunziata putting a third Nitro Motorsports driver in the top-five in fourth. Ben Maier had another solid event showing his speed but fell to seventh when the checkered flag flew, while Hailie Deegan was tenth, putting five team drivers inside the top-ten. Jared Odrick added a Nitro Motorsports podium in Pro/Am, standing on the second step of the box.
Along with the podium results and top-ten finishes, Matos earned the fastest lap of the race in the TA2 class and the Coolboxx Cool Move of the Race.
Tucker added, “We have two more event weekends left, and we need to keep our foot on the gas and close this championship.”
Next stop for the Nitro Motorsports Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli will be over the October 3-6 weekend at the VIRginia International Raceway (VIR).
