Nitro Motorsports is pleased to announce that Jay Thomas will join the team’s Toyota GR Cup North America program for the 2026 season, marking the next step in his progression from lapping day participant and avid sim racer to full-fledged series competitor.
Thomas has steadily developed his driving skills through extensive seat time and preparation, earning the opportunity to make his debut in one of North America’s most competitive one-make championships. His transition into the Toyota GR Cup North America paddock represents a significant milestone in his racing career and an opportunity to go wheel-to-wheel racing in 2026.
“I’m incredibly excited to be joining Nitro Motorsports and taking this next step into the Toyota GR Cup North America series,” expressed Thomas. “This is something I’ve been working toward for a long time, and I can’t wait to make my series debut. The level of competition is extremely high, and I’m looking forward to learning, improving, and getting the 2026 season started with realistic and achievable goals.”
Nitro Motorsports Nick Tucker welcomed Thomas to the program and emphasized the team’s commitment to driver development.

The 2026 Toyota GR Cup North America season will kick off March 13-15 at the Grand Prix of Arlington in Arlington, Texas, where Thomas will make his official series debut with Nitro Motorsports.
